Favourite Lights Lyric :)

Okay, so first of all I want to say that Lights is probably the most amazing musician I have ever heard of. Her lyrics are so unique and so real its amazes me. I like how she speaks he mind and like she usually says doesn't romanticize anything, which is pretty awesome considering that almost all music these days are about love. And the melodies in her music are just inexplicable. I can truly say that Lights is one of the people i look up to, just because shes so real.

Now for the lyric part. I could honestly say that every single song of hers is amazing. So I'll comment on one lyric of all the songs shes written so it's fair :P

First from the EP.

ICE: Pretty much the whole bridge amazes me,

"I'm looking at you looking at me, what can I do but say sorry
It's a little late but you know I just want you to be happy
What I got to say to make you let me get away with it this time
I know you're upset and that you're happy just to sit and hate me
But I'll make a bet that you'll be better to forget about me
Even better yet I'll let a little light melt the ice, ice baby!"

When i first heard this part i was like, how can she sing so freaking fast! I soon realized that she talked extremely fast and I was like, awesome, she uses her fast talking in songs :P . Also the Ice, Ice baby part reminds me of the song Ice Ice baby by Vanilla ice :)

DRIVE MY SOUL: I like the chorus.

"You're the only road I know
You show me where to go
Who will drive my soul"

This reminds me of my friends and family, who are always there for me, and without them i truly would not know where to go. This was the first song i heard from lights a couple of years ago...or whenever it hit Canadian radio :)

FEBRUARY AIR: The chorus :)

"My arms get cold
In February air
Please don't lose hold of me out there"

Lol, this reminds me of my cousins wedding, cause she had it on February, Valentines day, and It was freezing cold :P I can't really relate to this song... although when i read why Lights wrote this song ( she was alone on Valentines day, and it was freezing), I could totally relate with her there, lol :P

WHITE: Okay, for this Lyric, I always laugh for some reason because its SO true!

"Is there music muted playing underneath
Is mathematics keeping you from thinking free"

Music is probably the best thing ever, I don't what I, or anyone else for that matter would do without music. I play the guitar, and that's one of the things that sucks me out of the real world, and I'm constantly singing songs in my head :P. And the mathematics part... Well lets just say that I suck at math! Its my worse subject, and yes, it keeps me from thinking free LoL.

I OWE YOU ONE: To tell you the truth this whole song reminds me of God. You could say this to a loved one, but I think its more God oriented than any other song shes written. And i love the melody , its intergalactic :)

LAST THING ON YOUR MIND: Okay, this one is probably my favourite song off the EP. The lyrics are just so uplifting. I personally like the second verse.

"Straighten up your tie, take the microphone
Forget about it, don't let it get you down
Now is not the time, and you're not alone
Shut up about it, no one can bring you down now"

I just think that this particular lyric is basically saying to just forget about everything that has happened and move on because the past is the past, and you can't change the past. I sometimes do remember the past, but listening to this song makes me forget about everything that happened and move on with my life. This one i think really did come from the heart, not that the other ones didn't, but this one song stands out from the other on the EP.

Now from THE LISTENING:

SAVIOUR: Aaah Saviour... What can i say, this is a pretty stellar song. And the video to this song is pretty cool, I like her Tomb Raider outfit ( I've been obsessed with Tomb Raider lately). But one of the lyrics that really stands out to me is this one,

"I'm a bit of a manic when it's not as I plan it
Cause I start losing my head and then I get up in a panic"

Lol, okay, i think that anyone can relate to this. When things don't go as i plan, I go crazy, and i start to get cheesed with everyone around me :P and i am kind of a manic in my own way :P And yes, i do lose my head when nothing goes as planed... very well said Lights :)

Lol, okay im almost done, Sorry for boring all of you (no one is going to read this i bet).

Im just going to do a brief paragraph(or less) on...

ITS OVER CASANOVA: Lol, so when i first heard this song, I had no clue what casanova meant, so i looked it up ( props to Dictionary.com nd Wikipedia) and i read a promiscuous man. I started to crack up, but its a pretty sweet song. I like how she relates everything to candy and the bittersweet melody is fantastic.

YEAR OF THE CURE: Well this song is basically a song about finding a cure to cancer, but i like how she doesn't actually say anything about the disease, which is pretty impressive i think :) Plus she supports S4C, as do I :) gotta give her props for that.

JESS AND JOHNNY: LOL, i think this is the cutest song ever, and she wrote it for her sister, which i think is the sweetest thing. This song pretty much self explanatory, so I wont go into details on this one :)
